The ECHL and its member teams cry the loss and express their condolences to the family and friends of Orca Wiesblatt, who died in a car accident during the weekend at the age of 25.

Wiesblatt signed a contract with Allen for the 2025-26 season. Last season, he collected 42 points (17g-25a) in 37 games with Athens from the Federal Prospects Hockey League. He made his professional debut with Pensacola de la SPHL during the 2023-24 season, skating in four games. Before becoming a pro, he spent four seasons in the western hockey League with Calgary, displaying 104 points (27g-77a) in 138 games.

“We all have a broken heart,” said Steve Martinson, head coach and managing director of the Americans. “Orca (Weisblatt) was really looking forward to this next step in his hockey career. He was not only qualified, he was a changing momentum. I can always see his smile when he returned to the bench after one of his great successes. This is what we will miss the most, his infectious smile.”
