Five things to watch in Week 6 of the 2025-26 season

NFL action resumes this Thursday with an NFC East showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. We have 15 games scheduled from Thursday night to Monday night, so let’s identify the five most fascinating things to watch in week six.
5. Jayden vs. Caleb, part two.
Whenever the top two picks in the same draft class come together, it’s usually a must-see television spectacle. That was the case last season, when Jayden Daniels threw that insane Hail Mary pass that was overthrown before falling straight into the hands of former Commanders receiver Noah Brown for a walk-off win. The last time we saw the Bears play, they blocked a game-winning field goal attempt. Meanwhile, the Commanders just scored 27 unanswered points against the Los Angeles Chargers after losing 10-0. With this game being played on Monday Night Football, it will be worth watching.
4. How does Seattle respond this weekend with a game against Jacksonville?
It was a bitterly disappointing home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the NFL is a week-to-week league. With week six starting tomorrow, the time to dwell on the past is over. Now the Seahawks need to bounce back, but they will have a tough test on the road against a red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars team. Both QBs are playing well, but this game has the makings of a defensive masterclass. The Jags and Seahawks are only allowing their opponents to score 20 and 21 points per game, respectively. While the Jags lead the league in turnovers, the Seahawks are also pretty good at recording takeaways (tied for eighth). Who knows, it might even become the Super Bowl LX game!
3. Can the Ravens get out of this tailspin?
The viewership of this game will depend a lot on Lamar Jackson. If he plays, it will be a game to watch with explosive attacks on both sides. If we get Cooper Rush back, it will be a blast. But here at 101 Great Goals, we’re optimistic, so we’ll just assume Lamar plays this weekend. He probably should if the Ravens want to avoid falling to 1-5. No matter who leaves for Baltimore, the Rams will put up plenty of yards and points. Matthew Stafford leads the league in passing and the Ravens have the second-worst pass defense in the NFL. At a minimum, there will be some offensive fireworks for one team.
2. A 4-1 team battle in Tampa.
Is there anything better than two division heads going head-to-head in a late afternoon TV session? The only games being played at the same time as this one are Bengals-Packers and Titans-Raiders, so all eyes will be on Tampa, Florida. Baker Mayfield is playing like an MVP, but he’ll have an incredibly difficult task facing the San Francisco 49ers, who are coming off their most impressive win of the season. Will Robert Saleh have an answer for NFL Rookie of the Year favorite Emeka Egbuka? Will Mac Jones continue to build on his impressive season, or will Brock Purdy return to his starting job? We’ll find out the answers to these questions and more on Sunday afternoon.
In a standalone matchup, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will host the NFL’s best offense. Anyone will be tuning in to watch this one. The Chiefs may be 2-3, but they are still a threat to make the playoffs and play in a close game. They will be desperate to win after falling short against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football. On the other hand, the Lions appear to be the best team in the league. They are elite at running and throwing the ball, while also being tied for third in takeaways on defense. Dan Campbell is going to have his guys ready to go to war against Andy Reid’s Chiefs.
