First Premier League point for Dyche after entertaining encounter

Nottingham Forest picked up their first Premier League point under Sean Dyche as they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the City Ground on Saturday.

Casemiro put United ahead at half-time, but a rejuvenated Forest scored twice in succession after the break through Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona.

Amad Diallo then equalized with a sublime late volley to salvage a point and put the visitors above rivals Manchester City into fifth place.

How the action took place

After an uneventful first half, Amad tested Matz Sels shortly before the half-hour mark, curling an effort towards the top corner, but the Forest goalkeeper was equal to the task.

This turned out to be a premonition for Forest. Five minutes later United made the breakthrough, albeit following a controversial decision to award the visitors a corner. From Fernandes’ resulting delivery, Casemiro headed the ball into the back of the net for his second goal in as many games.

The forest was angry. United jubilant. But the hosts’ response after the break was instantaneous and resurgent. Barely five minutes of the second half had passed when Forest turned the game around.

First, Gibbs-White headed past Senne Lammens before Savona, pounced on the loose ball in the area, found the net 90 seconds later.

The visitors were shaken. But Sels’ post was also shaken when Fernandes tried his luck from distance as United tried to regain momentum.

Callum Hudson-Odoi then fired an effort just wide of goal from the edge of the box, with Forest looking lively.

However, they were hit with a stunning equalizer as time ticked down in the 81st minute. The ball fell from the sky just outside the box and Amad produced a scintillating left-footed volley that gave Sels no chance.

Amad was inches away from victory late in the match, denied only by a goal-line clearance from Murillo. But the game ended in a draw as Forest picked up their first Premier League point under new boss Dyche.
