President of Manchester City, Mubarak Adamant, they will return to their best in 2025-26

Manchester City president Khaldoon Al Mubarak has promised that they will return to their best next season after a 2024-25 trophy campaign.

City has struggled to comply with its usual standards this season, finishing 13 points behind the champions of the Premier League on the run, Liverpool while also losing in the round of the playoffs of the Repudé Champions League.

The men of Pep Guardiola left the EFL Cup in the fourth round and made it possible to lose the final of the FA Cup against Crystal Palace. City at least assured football from the Champions League for next season, but their place was only confirmed on the last day of the season with a 2-0 victory in Fulham.

But Mubarak is not in a mood to focus on the failures of this season, insisting that the club is now looking at the 2025-2026 challenges and building a team to make sure they can again face the major trophies.

“We will come back,” said Mubarak. “This season is a season that is now behind us. Today is a new day. We are starting to work and prepare for next season.

“And by the way, we have been doing it since January. And we will take all the good things and things not so good this season and learn from it and we will improve and improve.

“And I can assure you that this club will do everything possible to return to the standards that we know that we can all make and that we know, we will achieve.

“Because really, if there is one thing that I would like right now, it’s to transform this page last season and immediately start focusing on next season.

“Everyone I saw after the Fulham match, all the players, they are excited, they are delighted to come back.

“No one feels good in the way we have finished the season. They want to come back, and they want to come back hungry. And I can see hunger.

“And these players, they want to return to the pre-season. Normally, these players have gone and they start to think of a vacation. Honestly, each player I told me, you know, you know, we come back. We are ready to come back in three weeks.

“I spoke to Rodri as an example, he is looking for games. Erling [Haaland] I didn’t want to go on vacation. He wanted to stay with the physios and prepare for next season. And this is the attitude you want. And that’s exactly why you see me so positive.

“We will come back strong, with great positivity.”

City will go back to action during the 32-team World Cup expanded next month.

Guardiola’s men were drawn in group G, alongside Juventus, Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain.
