Newsom ready to continue a trial against the host of Fox News despite the air apology | Gavin Newsom

California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Fox News host Jesse Watters locked up in a political tit-tray after the network figure admitted to having said in mistake that Newsom lied to a telephone call with Donald Trump during the anti-immigration demonstrations in the state.
Watters on Thursday apologized on its program arising from a defamation trial of $ 787 million filed by Newsom against the host and Fox News, such as Los Angeles Times and other media reported. Newsom’s trial said Watters had lied to the Governor’s conversations calendar with the president during the summit of anti-immigration demonstrations and in terms of customs application (ICE) in Los Angeles.
Newsom argued that Watters intentionally handled his report to give the impression that the governor had lied to a telephone call he had with Trump.
On June 10, Trump publicly said that he had spoken to Newsom “one day”, adding that he had called the governor to tell him “that you have to do a better job, you are doing bad work”. Trump’s comments suggested that the two leaders spoke on the same day that the president ordered several hundred American navies to be deployed in Los Angeles – a decision that was adopted by a generalized opposition by Californian leaders.
After Trump’s comments, Newsom postponed social media against the president’s account. Newsom had publicly declared that he had spoken to Trump after midnight on June 7, during which there was no discussion on the deployment of Marines.
In an article on X, Newsom wrote: “There was no call. Even vocal messaging. The Americans should be alarmed that a president deploys Marines in our streets does not even know who he is talking about.”
Trump in response sent a screenshot of his call newspaper on June 7 at the anchor of Fox News John Roberts. Watters then showed the screenshot of his program, as well as a video clip for Trump’s comments on June 10 about his call with Newsom. In the video clip, the game where Trump said he spoke to Newsom “one day” was omitted, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The point of sale, which examined the clip, added that the bottom of the screen said: “Gavin lied on Trump’s call.”
As part of the defamation continuation, Newsom subsequently filed against the network, the governor’s lawyers said they would reject the case if Fox admitted had falsely distorted the calendar of the telephone call with Trump.
“We expect you to give the same antenna time by retracting these lies that you have spent presenting and amplifying them,” said Newsom lawyers in a letter to Fox, which Los Angeles Times examined. “In addition, Mr. Watters and Fox News have to apologize for the lie that you have spread to Governor Newsom.”
On Thursday, Watters presented warm apologies on the air, saying: “” Not even a voice message “- we took this to signify that there was never a call … We thought that the dispute did not aim if there was a telephone call when he said without qualification that there was no call.
“Now Newsom tells us what was in his head when he wrote the tweet,” added Watters. “He did not deceive anyone expressly, so I’m sorry, he was not lying. He was simply confusing and unclear. Next time, governor, why don’t you say what you mean.”
In response to Watters’s comments on the air, Newsom provided a statement to the Los Angeles Times suggesting that he will light up with his trial.
“The discovery will be fun,” said the press release. “See you soon in court, my friend.”
