Final Fantasy 14 lead Yoshi-P has reportedly teased ports for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, asking fans of the MMO to “please wait.”

The announced release of Final Fantasy 14 on Nintendo Switch and/or Switch 2 apparently remains in sight. Director Naoki Yoshida apparently mentioned the ports during a recent speech to fans, although no firm details were provided.
Every year around New Year’s Eve, Yoshida answers questions from players on the Japanese FF14 servers. Apparently, among the topics discussed at the latest informal conference was the prospect of getting Square Enix’s beloved MMORPG on Nintendo’s handheld consoles, and it appears that development on that version is underway.

This statement seems pretty definitive, but always take these responses with a slight pinch of salt as they are translations of live reactions. However, it certainly seems like a port could be in the works, but there’s simply nothing else to say at the moment, or further promotion could be relegated to a schedule specified by Nintendo and Square Enix.
If and when Final Fantasy 14 hits Nintendo’s machines, there will likely be a specific direct among a larger campaign to fully drum up interest. At this point, it’s assumed that it will be on both Switch and Switch 2, but we don’t know anything for sure.
Bringing the massive game to these devices would be a herculean effort. Not only do you have to worry about every aspect of the game, but you also have to make sure account sync works in a whole different ecosystem. Fortunately, Yoshida and his team have never been afraid of challenges. Watch this space.
Final Fantasy 14’s Yoshi-P took inspiration from mobile RPGs to lift glamor restrictions: “If you look at one of those games, you won’t really see the same restrictions on fashion as FF14.”
