Filmax takes “mouth of the sky” for international sales in San Sebastián

Filmax has taken international rights on “Mouths of Sky” (“Zeru Ahoak”), the detective mystery in four parts that bows in the official selection of the San Sebastián Film Festival this year.
A series of “Mouths of Sand”, the Basque series in the Basque language is led by Koldo Almandoz (“Mouths of Sand”, “Ghost Ship”) and wrote with the novelist Harkaitz Cano (“Black Is Beltza”). It takes place four years after the previous series and follows Neerea García (Nagore Aranburu, “Querer”, “”), the former police officer marked by his past who is trained in a case of ritual murder in Bilbao. Her former boss, Lertxundndi, proves crucial as she confronts both the investigation and her own ghosts. The tone seems to be darker than the “sands of sand” and takes place in the more decadent corners of Bilbao.
Ivan Díaz, head of the international in Filmax, added: “When we sold” the mouth of sand “, we let ourselves be more like. It was clear that a special universe deserved continuity. Now the world has grown with even more production value than before. ”
With his air plans, the follow-up of cars through lit tunnels and his pulsating soundtrack, he is intentionally cinematographic, much more like a television series by Michael Mann Crime than in the television series. Aranburu, who can be the most popular Basque actress in the featured festival as she does in three other official selection titles is joined by a distribution that includes Josean Bengoetxea (“The Chapel”), Sara Cozar (“20,000 species of Bees”), Miren Gazetañaga (“The Platform”) and Ramon Actre (“Money Heist”.
“” The mouth of the sky “makes you hang from the start and manages to maintain the suspense until the end,” said producer Marian Fernández Pascal. “Each new episode sees the intrigue twist more and will become darker, more intense and more morally difficult.”
Produced by Garabi Films and Txintxua Films with the Basque public broadcaster Eitb, the series will be broadcast this fall on EITB and later on RTVE Play, after its premiere of San Sebastián.
