Film independent episodic lab sets 2025 scholarship holders

EXCLUSIVE: Film Independent has selected six writers for its episodic laboratory 2025. In person this year from August 11 to 22, the Laboratory participants are Bryce Cracknell, Spencer Jamison, Rom Lotan, Lilian T. Mehrel, Leah Sarbib and Ida Yazdi.

The episodic independent film laboratory is designed to provide individualized stories and career development to writers with original television pilots. Thanks to personalized comments of experienced showrunners, creative producers and executives, who will serve as advisers, scholarship holders will receive aid to revise and refine their drivers, as well as advice to sail in an industrial changing landscape. As a founding sponsor, Netflix will offer the possibility of specifically learning from showrunners who direct their series. A final networking and pitch event will offer scholarship holders the opportunity to present themselves and their work to studio and network leaders.

Creative Advisors and Guest Speakers Will Include Christian Alvarez, Kj Booze, Wendy Calhoun, will be Gamble, Emmeline Yang Hankins, Eric Heisserer, Anil Kurian, Marvin Lemus, Kyle Lau, Felischa Marye, Dani Melia, Caroline Mak, Marc Mounier, Adriana Nassar, Van B. Robbie Pickering, Erica Rosbe, Jasmine Russ, Eddie Quintana, Loretta Ramos, Gina Reyes, Beth Schacter and Ellen Shanman.

“In the midst of the evolution of the television landscape, we are honored to have the opportunity to raise such daring and innovative voices in the episodic laboratory,” said DEA Vazquez, associate director of the film fiction programs Independent. “We are delighted to work with these writers in the program where we will maintain the development of their projects and careers and we are looking forward to continuing to support them as they progressed in the television industry.”

Film Independent also announced today that the participant in the Mehrel laboratory will receive a subsidy of $ 20,000 from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to support the development of their pilot, Wicked.
