The district will be thrilled this weekend with the FIFA club World Cup and the annual barbecue battle in the national capital, despite a heat wave approaching the region.
The FIFA club World Cup brings football, team spirit and excitement to Audi Field in the southwest of DC on Sunday, while the Battle of the Barbecue of the National Capital will be back for its 33rd year with some of the country’s best barbecus, as well as musical performances, live art, dance battles and family events.
But these events have a price.
Road closures for the FIFA Club World Cup
The match between FC Red Bull Salzburg and FC Saudi al-Hilal will close several streets around the stadium for the game and the festivities, according to a DC police traffic.
In the southwest of DC, on rue T, the roads will be closed to the circulation of First Street in the 2nd street between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The following streets will also be designated as emergency streets without parking from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday:
- The east side of the 2nd SW, from R Street to T Street
- R Street SW, from First Street SW to 2nd Street SW
- Potomac avenue SW, from half street swing to First Street SW
- Half Street SW, from Potomac avenue SW to S Street SW
These opinions are hidden with other street closings which are in place until June 28:
- First Street SW, from Potomac avenue SW to T Street SW
- S Street SW, from Half Street SW to First Street SW
Road closures for the national capital barbecue battle
Until Monday, June 23 at 2 am, DC police said the following streets would be closed to vehicle traffic and posted in an emergency without parking:
- 3rd Street of Constitution Avenue, NW in Independence avenue, SW
- 4th Street from Pennsylvania avenue in Madison Drive, NW
- 6th Street from C Street to Constitution Avenue, nw
- Constitution avenue de 3rd street to 7th street, nw
- Maryland avenue de 3rd Street in Independence Avenue, SW
- Pennsylvania avenue de 3rd Street at 7th Street, NW
Vehicles parked in these areas will be subject to ticket office and towing.
