Fernando Alonso: Aston Martin Driver Participation of the doubt for the Hungarian Grand Prix due to back injuries | F1 News

Fernando Alonso’s participation for the Hungarian Grand Prix is in doubt due to a back injury, which will force him to miss the first training on Friday.

Alonso will be replaced by Aston Martin Reserve Driver for the opening session at 12:30 p.m. live on Sky Sports F1 before the team decided if it participated in the second training later at 4 p.m. Friday.

The 44-year-old man, who is the oldest driver on the grid, spent a disappointing weekend in Belgium where he qualified 19th and finished 17th.

“In the days following the Belgian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso managed a muscle injury on the back,” said an Aston Martin statement.

“While continuing with a treatment this morning, he chose to sit from FP1. Felipe Drugovich will lead to FP1 alongside Lance Stroll.

“A decision will then be made on Fernando’s participation in FP2 and the rest of the weekend in due time.”

In March, Alonso revealed that he was running with a neck injury due to a “pinched nerve” following the Australian Grand Prix.

His teammate Aston Martin, launches, Stroll missed the Spanish Grand Prix due to hand and wrist pain that required surgery.

The history of Alonso’s injuries in F1

Alonso suffered an elbow, knee and deadly thigh after a huge shunt in the rain at the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Spaniard underwent a temporary memory loss after a pre-season test accident in 2015 for McLaren, which forced him to miss the first race of the season. McLaren said Alonso’s doctors detected “no evidence of an injury” at the time.

A year later, Alonso had a massive accident at the Australian Grand Prix when he hit the Haas Esteban Gutierrez driver, turning on the gravel. He broke his coasts and missed the next race in Bahrain.

In 2021, Alonso was involved in a road accident while bicycle in Switzerland in winter, but was in good shape to return for the season.
