Félix Bautista of Orioles faces a long recovery after shoulder surgery

BALTIMORE – The Orioles closer to Félix Bautista had another major operation, this time to repair a torn rotator cap and a torn labrum.

The team says that Bautista was operated on Tuesday with Dr. Neal Elatrache in Los Angeles. Development occurs a little more than a week after the acting manager Tony Mansolino announced that the 6 -feet 8 -inch right -hander would miss the rest of the season due to an “important” shoulder injury.

Bautista is also missing most of next season, part of a series of health problems that have limited him since he made the star team in 2023.

Bautista was one of the most imposing baseball readers that year, displaying 33 stops and an MPM of 1.48. But he missed the last month of this season, as well as the playoffs, due to a right injury from the UCL. After Tommy John surgery, he was absent for all 2024.

Bautista was able to return this year, going 1-1 with an MPM of 2.60 and 19 stops, but after 34 2/3 innings, it will be missing a lot of time again.

Orioles were turned off on Wednesday. They start a four -game home series Thursday evening against Houston. Baltimore remains in the last place of Al East but won six of his last seven, all against the contenders for the playoffs.
