WONDER MAN Trailer Sees Simon Williams Tackle Superhero Fatigue and the Role of His Life

The first trailer and poster of Wonderful man have been released following Marvel Television’s New York Comic Con panel, and actor Simon Williams is looking to make a name for himself as the new “Wonder Man.”

The classic superhero film is being revived in the MCU, but in Marvel Studios’ most meta move yet, “Wonder Man” will face a truly terrifying foe: superhero fatigue!

In this preview, Simon is determined to find his big break as Wonder Man and appears to be good friends with fellow actor Trevor Slattery. However, he’ll have to be methodical about getting into character, and while that’s just a hint here, we’re betting it will lead to him becoming a legit superhero.

Interestingly, the film’s director is named Von Korvac, which is almost certainly a nod to villain Michael Korvac, a classic Avengers villain. In 2977, he betrayed humanity by allying himself with the Badoon. His reward? Being transformed into a cyborg.

It was also confirmed today that Wonderful man will premiere on Disney+ on January 27 at 6 p.m. PT, with a total of eight episodes underway.

“It’s one of my favorite things I’ve been a part of in the studio,” Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum recently told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ll start there. It’s very different from anything the studio has produced. In terms of meta, without going into detail, it’s a series that takes place within the MCU, but it’s a story about Hollywood.”

“And it’s not just a story about Hollywood, I would say it’s a story about acting and an actor’s journey in Hollywood, where you have to balance being an artist with making money and very grounded ideas that anyone who grew up in Hollywood or the arts in general can relate to.” he continued. “I certainly could on a very deep level.”

Praising the Wonder Man creative team, Winderbaum added: “Yeah. Andrew Guest and I worked on Hawkeye. It’s been around for a long time and he’s really an incredible writer, an incredible craftsman, he really understands the industry and was really able to delve deeper into these characters.”

“And fate [Daniel Cretton]Obviously an incredible filmmaker, he worked on Shang-Chi with us, but this really ties in with his more independent films, Short Term 12 and that sort of genre. They created something truly profound, wonderful and sometimes moving. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s very sincere. It’s very serious. It’s not cynical.”
