FCC Chairman Republishes Donald Trump’s Call for NBC to Fire Seth Meyers

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr reiterated Donald Trump’s demand to fire Seth Meyers from NBC after he was the subject of his criticism on the host’s late-night show.
Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday: “NBC’s Seth Meyers suffers from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was seen last night in an uncontrollable rage, probably due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a ratings disaster. Apart from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him IMMEDIATELY!”
Over the past week, Meyers has repeatedly joked about Trump in his monologues, mocking his health care plans, the government shutdown, a 50-year mortgage, a dinner with financial executives and the ongoing controversy over Jeffrey Epstein’s records.
Shortly after Trump’s post, Carr reposted the president’s message on his X account.
Although Carr has made no comment, his public co-signing of the president’s demand that NBC fire late-night hosts comes after his apparent threat to take action against ABC over Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks following Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September.
During his appearance on Benny Johnson’s podcast on September 17, Carr suggested that the FCC has “remedies that we can look at.”
“We can do it the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change their ways and take action, frankly, against Kimmel, or there will be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
Hours after Carr’s remarks, two major broadcast networks, Nexstar and Sinclair, broadcast “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from broadcast on several of their affiliates, as well as on ABC, suspending Kimmel’s show indefinitely.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returned to the air on September 23.
