Fawad Khan among judges like the return of “the Pakistani idol”

“Pakistan Idol” returns more than 10 years after the end of its original race, the production company MHL Global securing the rights of the Fremantle format distributor to relaunch the series of singing competitions.

The show will star a star judgment group, including actor Fawad Khan, singer Zeb Bangash, artist Qawwali Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and musician of Strings Bilal Maqsood. The revival marks an important return for the franchise, which was released for the last time in 2014.

The origin “Pakistan Idol” was presented at first on Geo Entertainment in December 2013 and ended in April 2014 with the singer of Lahore Zamad Baig winning the title. This season, tried by Bushra Ansari, Hadiqa Kiani and Ali Azmat, generated a substantial commitment of the spectator, culminating in a record of 1 million votes expressed during the final.

GEO TV initially acquired the IDOL format rights in 2007, but was faced with production delays due to logistical challenges. The network launched the show six years later as a 50th international adaptation of the British “pop idol” format.

MHL Global provides an ambitious distribution strategy for restarting, with the program which takes place simultaneously on five television networks – a first for any “idol” frankness in the world. According to society, this multi-platform approach aims to reach a diversified audience in the different regions and languages of Pakistan.

“Our partnership with Fremantle on Pakistan Idol takes a major step for the creative and entertainment industries of Pakistan,” said Zoya Merchant, director of MHL Global. “This launch represents more than entertainment – it is a cultural movement. Pakistan has an incredible musical talent, and this platform will highlight it on a national scale but will raise it on the world scene. ”

Production will incorporate modern digital engagement alongside traditional television broadcasting. Online hearings are launched via the Begin platform, while casting calls in person are planned for large cities and distant regions.

Production should start later this year, with distribution details and first dates to announce.
