“Fascist”, “Nazi” insults are akin to incitement to murder

Elon Musk responded to the shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday by suggesting that throwing around the words “fascist” and “Nazi” could amount to incitement to murder.

“Falsely labeling non-violent people as ‘fascists’ or ‘Nazis’ should be treated as incitement to murder,” the billionaire wrote on X.

Musk further responded “Exactly” to a user who wrote, “They’re not killing you because you’re a Nazi. They’re calling you a Nazi so they can kill you.”

The X president’s comments come after two National Guardsmen were shot and killed in a “targeted” attack in downtown DC on Wednesday. While FBI Director Kash Patel and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said the victims were in critical condition, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey noted there were conflicting reports after initially confirming their deaths. A suspect is reportedly in custody.

“My deepest condolences to the families of the two National Guardsmen who were murdered in cold blood today,” Musk said earlier today. “How many innocent deaths will it take to reform our broken system? Radical action is needed.”

President Donald Trump, who is in Florida and therefore far from the White House, responded to the shooting by saying: “The animal that shot the two National Guardsmen, both seriously injured, and now in two separate hospitals, is also seriously injured, but regardless, it will pay a very high price.” »

The conversation about syntax also comes after Trump last week threatened six Democratic lawmakers with the death penalty for sedition after they urged their military colleagues to avoid following “unlawful” orders. It also comes months after Musk was accused of using an apparent Nazi salute in January during the president’s inauguration.
