Farewell Ford – recalls more than 200,000 vehicles, including Expedition, Super Duty and Lincoln Navigator for Critical Safety Defects have already started to inform the owners

Alert for Ford users. The American automaker is confronted (still) with another massive reminder. This time, it includes more than 200,000 vehicles that have serious safety problems. Emblematic models like The Ford Expedition, Super Duty or Lincoln Navigator are under public control: they have problems in the braking system and failures in rear cameras, they are not missing.
It was in April that this news was made public, another chapter added to the history of Ford defects. What happens to this brand?
Reminder 1: rear cameras
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has published two separate reminders for this brand. The first refers to vehicles that have chess in the rear camera.
As you may know, in the United States, there is a law, FMVSS 111 (Federal Security Safety Rule 111-rear visibility rule) which forces manufacturers to equip reversing cameras so that users can see at least 10 feet deep behind the vehicle and it must be activated in less than 2 seconds after opposite.
In some Ford models, the camera does not light up, seems white or the image is distorted, which makes failure very problematic (even more when failure is regulated by law).
The models affected by this error are:
- Ford F-25, F-350, F-450 (2015)
- Ford Expedition (2015)
- Lincoln Navigator (2015)
- Lincoln MKC (2011)
It is estimated that affected units could reach 160,700 vehicles.
Reminder 2: Braking liquid leaks
Of course, a brake fluid leak is a fairly serious problem. Apparently, it has been detected that the braking system has leaks in the front circuit, which could reduce braking capacity.
The affected models are:
- Ford Expedition (2017-2018)
- Lincoln Navigator (2017-2018)
- Ford F-150 (2017-2018, made outside Kentucky)
And an estimated total of 123,611 units affected.
What is Ford doing?
For the first and second recall, Ford has already taken measures, for the first recall that they replace the cameras at no cost (since May 5), and for the second, they replace the master-cylinder brake (since April 22).
What should you do if you have one of these models?
Very easy, you have the wine of your vehicle (vehicle identification number), with this number (which is the clearest identification of your vehicle), you can access the official NHTSA page (by clicking here) or by calling 1-888-327-4236, or alternatively, Ford 1-866-436-7332 and check if your vehicle is included in this reminder or not.
If you notice one of these failures with your vehicle, do not wait and do not wait for your nearest dealership or your official workshop so that they can do an exam as soon as possible. Ford issued recall opinions since April 22, accepting the problem and showing a more “human” side, because they know that the main asset of the company is the confidence that users place there.
Although Ford does not go through its best sequence, it is clear that they are always very attentive to routine safety checks to find possible faults that can save consumers from unpleasant surprises. We will have to see if they manage to stay afloat after this massive reminder.
