Isabela Merced says that Hawkgirl has “a little grumpy behavior” and for a good reason

You would find it difficult to find a fan of DC Comics who does not admit that the story of Hawkman and Hawkgirl is one of the most tangled sagas in all comics. Their story dates back to ancient Egypt, where the Ndth Metal Dagger of a jealous priest cursed them to a endless cycle of death and Renaissance.
Thanks to numerous comic restarts and retorts, the Hawkgirl coat was carried by three important figures:
- Shiera Sanders Hall: The Original Golden Age Hawkgirl.
- Shayera Hol (née Thal): a Thanagarian police officer of the silver age.
- Kendra Saunders: Often represented as a direct reincarnation of Shiera.
When it appears on the official podcast of the DC Studios, Isabela Merced, thrown like Hawkgirl Supermanoffered surprising details on his character. When he reached the question of whether his Hawkgirl would be a foreign or reincarnated, Merced revealed a fascinating turn.
“”Kendra is reincarnated from a stranger. So she has all these memories“Merced explained.”The story is actually really dark, it’s so f * # * ed up that I wonder how they will manage this when it comes to addressing this. I think she has all the memories, trauma and errors of her past lives in her body, wherever she goes, so she has a little grumpy behavior.“”
Merced explained how this rich, so sinister story informs its representation. “”Honestly, it gives me so much background and it’s super useful. But then you also have the twist of James Gunn, this self -awareness and the comedy of all this. It gives me the opportunity to shed light on my trauma and that’s what I do all the time.“”
Unlike certain iterations of comics where Hawkgirl, however, ignores his past lives, Merced’s answers suggest a fully conscious Hawkgirl Supermanoverwhelmed by the weight of centuries. This awareness is strongly implemented that somewhere in this new cinematographic universe DC, his love destined, Hawkman, is probably waiting to find his beloved long lost.
