Fans react to George Russell securing pole position for the Singapore GP F1

Online F1 fans shared their reaction to George Russell guaranteeing pole position for the Singapore F1 Grand Prix on Saturday, while he was beating Max Verstappen by a little less than two tenths of a second. The fans were shocked by the Briton who came out of nowhere and put the fastest tricks in the third quarter.

George Russell set up a time of 1: 29,158 during the qualifications for the Singapore GP on Saturday, to secure what was only his second pole position of the 2025 F1 season. Max Verstappen abandoned his last rapid round after what he claimed to be hampered by Lando Norris, and had to settle for second place. The championship manager, Oscar Piastri, finished the first three in qualifying.

Online fans shared their reactions to this Russell feat, with a lot of exuberant left by the Mercedes Man’s Drive on the Marina Bay circuit.

“Does nothing. Gets the post !!”, joked a fan.

“Insanable fast, Mega deserved,” said another user.

“Toto must put a little respect on the name of Russell and give him the contract he deserves. What a brilliant tower 👏,” said another fan.

“I’m going to take a boring race if I will see him at the top of the podium tomorrow,” said another user.

After fighting on Friday, Mercedes overthrew his performance on Saturday, seeking to challenge pole position during qualifications. While George Russell caught the post, Kimi Antonelli also managed to qualify in P4, ahead of Lando Norris.

But Antonelli could always be frustrated, because he looked faster than his teammate until the third quarter, but Russell succeeded two fast laps when it counted the most.

George Russell said he felt “incredible” after qualifying on the post for the Singapore GP on Saturday. He also explained how Friday was a difficult day for him, but that he was happy to bounce so strongly.

Russell reflected on his pole position just after the end of qualifying in post-session interview.

“It’s amazing to be in pole position. Yesterday was a very difficult day for many different reasons, but it is good to return and get a good result today,” said Russell.

“It’s a long sweat race tomorrow but I knew there was potential in the car (today),” he added.

Russell then added that he did not get carried away with pole position, because he previously had disappointing results in Singapore. He also said he would be wary of Max Verstappen on the start of the race, saying that the Dutchman was generally “fairly good”.
