Fans have fun with unused promotional photos of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher from DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN
A photo of Charlie Cox in his black Daredevil costume made the rounds online this weekend, and now we have never-before-seen shots of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle in his Punisher outfit.
These are believed to be unused promotional images from the first season of Daredevil: Born Againand show Bernthal striking a series of intimidating poses.
Fans had fun with the photo of Frank letting out a war cry while raising an ax above his head, using the image for memes and more. Although Bernthal’s performance as the ultra-violent vigilante has been widely praised, some feel that he sometimes tends to go a little too far with the intensity (the screaming and growling isn’t for everyone).
Bernthal will return as Castle for the second season of Born againand is configured to appear in Spider-Man: A Whole New Day. He will also take the helm of a new Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation.

Plot details for Special presentation are still mostly under wraps, but some previous set photos seemed to confirm that Castle would indeed face Isabella Carmela Magdalena Gnucci, aka “Ma Gnucci.” It is believed that Judith Light has been cast as the villain, but this has not been made official yet.
Gnucci was the ruthless leader of a crime family who debuted in Garth Ennis’ fourth issue. Marvel Knights run. She came close to ending the Punisher’s crusade on several occasions, hiring fearsome sidekicks such as The Russian to hunt down his implacable enemy.
Bernthal also co-wrote the screenplay with his This city belongs to us director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who will direct the Special.
“It’s like the shot of a story, but it also has all the pathos and emotion you expect from a Frank Castle story.” » said Bard Winderbaum, head of streaming at Marvel, after the project was made official. “It’s so exciting.”
Winderbaum then revealed that the idea of a Punisher autonomous story manifested during production on Born againwhich saw Matt Murdock team up with his former enemy to take down members of Wilson Fisk’s anti-vigilante task force.
“Bernthal is a generational actor” » added Winderbaum. “It’s amazing what he brings to every role he plays, but especially to Frank Castle. And he’s a great writer. He knows the character inside and out…Also, I love Punisher, but I love Jon’s Punisher in particular. The idea that he’s in the MCU and he can bring that to the bigger universe, especially the more grounded street stuff, is a huge opportunity and, as a fan, the biggest thing whoever is.”
