Fanny Ardant, “ isola ” by Joanna Kulig, picks up the photos of Minerva for sales

Minerva Pictures arrived on board to manage international sales of the “isola” psychological drama, with the icon of French cinema Fanny Ardant and the Polish actor Joanna Kulig.

The film is currently in post-production. Italian actor Marco Rossetti, known for his role in the popular medical drama “Doc – nelle kills man”, also appears in the cast alongside Kulig and Ardent.

Located on an isolated Italian island, “Isola” follows a dangerous relationship between two women. The story focuses on Joanna, who finds himself stuck on an isolated island with her handicapped and much older husband, Oskar. His interactions with her goalkeeper, Ada, evolve in a psychological psychological game and mouse with potentially deadly consequences.

The film marks the beginnings of director of the Italian filmmaker-Germany Nora Jaenicke, who previously was acclaimed for her short films. Jaenicke, who also wrote the script, is the founder and artistic director of the Elba film festival and directs the development workshop of the Nostos script in Tuscany.

“With this film, I want to explore themes which, in my opinion, have not been sufficiently explored in the film: the fragility of the human psyche under pressure, and the thin line between care and control and the ease with which violence can infiltrate a woman’s life in the domestic domain,” said Jaenicke.

Monica Ciarli of the Minerva group Pictures added: “When Vincenzo Mosca from Tvco and watched this film for the first time, we were struck by the incredible performances of the wonderful actresses and the power of such a convincing story.

The project is produced by Manish Mundra of India – which was part VarietyThe 10 producers to watch in 2017 – through his company Drishyam Films, alongside the co -producer Ariens Damsi for Eliofilm, based in Rome, Nostos Films de Jaenicke.

“Minerva Pictures is the perfect partner for Isola,” said Mundra. “Their expertise and their passion for distinctive narration will help bring this film to a world public, and we are delighted to collaborate with them to ensure that Isola reaches the right markets.”

Drishyam Films has built a reputation for producing an independent cinema acclaimed by criticism, including the selection of Cannes “Masaan”, “Newton”, “Ankhon Dekhi” and “Dhanak”.
