Ewan McGregor spoke of the moment he embarrassed in front of Delia Smith – because he was so excited that he continued to swear.

The Scottish actor made the comments while he and the collaborator Charley Boorman appeared on the Podcast dish of Waitrose, organized by the awarded chef Angela Hartnett and the music star Nick Grimshaw.

Describing the meeting of the famous cook during a Times radio event, McGregor said: “I was so excited to meet her, but I continued to swear. I didn’t want to do it, but I just continued to drop the F bombs all the time … I really got down.”

But Grimshaw said about Smith, who was previously a majority shareholder at Norwich City: “She wouldn’t care. She’s going well, she is out of football, she hears everything.”

McGregor and Boorman, who have worked together in the past 20 years in their series of long motorcycle adventures, have discussed some of the specialties they eaten during their trips.

The two described how they were once invited for a meal in a ger, or yurt, by villagers in Mongolia.

Boorman told Podcast: “They said” would you like food? “And they had this big pot in the middle on the stove, and they raised this, uh, this lid, and there were 200 testicles bubbling with all their bowels.

“Yaks. You call it, everything was there.”

Boorman continued: “I remember having eaten them, and Ewan is quite good with eating, in a way, you know, difficult things, I took a bite and it saved a little.”

Questioned by Hartnett if the villagers noticed, Boorman replied: “Oh, they thought it was the funniest thing in the world.”

The latest adventure of McGregor and Boorman, entitled Long Way Home, sees them traveling from Star Wars McGregor’s house in Scotland in Boorman in England, taking a detour via Scandinavia, the Arctic Circle and the return through continental Europe on board classical motorcycles.
