Everything is not doing well in the kings of Punjab! Preity Zinta moves the court; Here is the reason

Bollywood actress and Kings of Punjab Kings Preity Zinta has initiated legal proceedings against his co-realizing colleagues Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. The dispute focuses on the legitimacy of an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) which was held on April 21, 2025 by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company owner of the Punjab Kings franchise.
Preity Zinta moves to Chandigarh Court
Preity, which has a 23% stake in KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, has filed civil action in a Chandigarh court aimed at declaring the illegal and invalid EGM of April 21. She alleges that the meeting was summoned and carried out in violation of the 2013 companies law and secretarial standards. According to his petition, the meeting did not follow the appropriate procedures required under business law and relevant secretarial regulations.
The controversy intensified when Zinta raised objections to the meeting via an e-mail dated April 10, which, she said, was ignored. Despite his dissent and the presence of director Karan Paul, Zinta and Paul opposed the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a new director during the EGM. Nevertheless, Burman, with the support of Wadia, proceeded to the meeting and the appointment of Khanna.
A key point of discord was the appointment of the president of Reunion. Zinta and Paul opposed the appointed president of Ness Wadia, citing principle 5.1 of secretarial standards, which obliges the directors to elect a president between them if none is pre-designed. The vote for the president was divided between the four participating administrators, further complicating the legality of the meeting procedure.
In his legal file, Zinta asked for a declaration of justice to cancel the EGM and prevent Muneesh Khanna from assuming responsibilities of director. She also asked for an injunction to prevent the company from implementing all the decisions made at the contested meeting. In addition, the trial seeks to prohibit the company from carrying out other consulting or general meetings without the presence of Zinta and Paul, and without the involvement of Khanna, until the case is resolved.
The court issued opinions to the respondents – KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited and the co -directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia – and planned the next hearing for May 27, where arguments on a provisional injunction will be presented.
