Everything about the parents of the anchor of the new nights

The anchor of NBC Nightly News, Tom Llamas, has always said that he would not be where he is today without his mother and his father. And when Llamas and Jenna Bush Hager sat with them for an interview on September 18, you can see how very proud they are.

“I saw him start in high school, where he realized what he wanted to do,” said his mother, while his father wiped tears. “He worked very hard, had a lot of ambition.”

“Life concerns adversity and adversity, these two have gone through a lot throughout their lives,” Llamas told Jenna.

His parents, born in Cuba, left the country to live in America shortly after the communist regime of Fidel Castro took control of the country.

“When you have to flee your country, you realize how important the elections are, how important world events are and you know you have to be an enlightened citizen wherever you are,” said Llamas on today.

“When I walk in 30 rock, it doesn’t leave me that I am this son of immigrants, two people who came to this country,” he said. “They did not know the language, they had no money, and this great and beautiful country gave them a second chance.”

Before his parents went to work every day, they read the newspaper “Cover to cover,” said Llamas. “And so I think my parents really instilled me and my brother that we had to know what was going on. You had to know how the world worked, and you had to be really, really educated in the problems of the day. ”

His parents also taught him that “you cannot take the easy solution”. He remembered a specific “turning point” when his mother drilled this lesson in him in adolescence.

The Llamas worked on a series of unpaid courses, and one morning tired to stay late with his friends, he planned to jump from work.

“My mother was like” we don’t do that in this house. As, if you have a job and people are waiting for you, you have to present yourself “”, he recalls. “You have a responsibility when people depend on you – you have to introduce yourself. And yet, to date, that tells me.”

It was an “emotional moment” when Llamas told his parents that he would be the new anchor of the news of NBC Nightly. “There were a lot of tears.”

There were also a lot of tears when his parents visited the studio. Seeing their son in his first program, Llamas’ mother said: “It was great … to see your son happy, to do his job and go where he became, it’s great.”

Lamas have attributed to his “everything” parents, including his work ethics. “I mean, these are my biggest fans. They watch every show.”

But their approval is not linked to its success.

“If I did not have this work, my parents would be proud of me. They are proud of me because I raised a good family, I was a good husband, I was a good father,” he said. “I am proud to be their son.”
