Europe takes command with the dominant performance of foursomes

Europe took a dominant start for their defense of the Ryder Cup when they won three of the four morning games in Foursomes in Bethpage.

The United States has long been considered the favorites to triumph over the soil at home, Europe not having won on American soil since the Miracle of Medinah in 2012.

However, the weight of the story was clearly not a burden for the Luke Donald team, when they appeased the noisy crowd in New York by putting themselves in an excellent position in the four afternoon balls.

Rahm and Hatton first strike

The United States has taken a hot start for the first foursomes competition, with Bryson Dechambeau and Justin Thomas combining to win the opening hole with a Birdie on the four.

But they were unable to rely on this early advantage, with the implementation of Thomas disappointing in contrast striking with that of Rahm and Hatton as they grew confidence, attaching things to the seventh, then winning four of the following eight holes to win a 4 and 3 victory.

The decisive blow came to the 15th, when Thomas sent a wide convincing putt to the right of the hole.

McILroy and Fleetwood win in style

While Dechambeau and Thomas were well equaled to Rahm and Hatton, he quickly became very obvious that the twinning of Collin Morikawa and Harris English was unlikely to compete with Rory McILroy and Tommy Fleetwood.

An opening birdie gave the European pair an advantage that they have never abandoned, Mcillroy and Fleetwood holding an advantage of five holes with only eight played. Morikawa and English drew the tide in the ninth, but their late response only delayed inevitable.

A 5 and 4 victory was sealed when Fleetwood stored after McILroy missed with a 30 -foot putt for Birdie.

Amazing scheffer

The most discordant result of the opening session for the United States will have been the categorical loss suffered by the world number one Scottie Scheffler and its partner Russell Henley.

This duo was amazed by the pair of Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick in a loss of 5 and 3.

Birdie Putt of opening of Aberg was equaled by an eight feet of Scheffler in the second, but Aberg and Fitzpatrick produced golf courses inspired thereafter, delivering birdies to three of the following four holes.

Scheffler excelled to reverse deficits on the PGA Tour and on the major circuit, but he and Henley never seemed to produce a turnaround, and a 15 feet of Fitzpatrick in the 15th won the victory.

USA Win Final Match

It was only in the last session match that the United States was able to go on the board, with Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay triumphant on Robert Macintyre and Viktor Hovland

Schauffele and Cantlay seemed to have the match in hand when they made three in the 11th.

But Hovland launched successive Birdie putts at 12 and 13 before a Bogey USA in the 15th placed the match.

However, the United States has recovered its advance while a capricious TEE fired in the Macintyre bunker in the 17th century turned out to be expensive. Hovland then left the TEE to the last, effectively offering a 2UP victory to the pair in the United States.

The pairs of the four confirmed bullets

Hovland and Macintyre were both omitted from Donald’s Fourballs, Rasmus Hojgaard and Shane Lowry with their first taste of action.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton were also left out, with Sepp Straka for the opening match of the session and the veteran of the Ryder Cup, Justin Rose, taking his place alongside Tommy Fleetwood.

The US Open JJ Spaun champion made his Ryder Cup debut in the Fourballs, just like Ben Griffin, with Sam Burns and Cameron Young who also arrived.

Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Collin Morikawa and Harris English were all abandoned for the Fourballs by Captain Keegan Bradley
