ESPN and Words + Pictures Team Up for Nick Saban’s Six-Part Docuseries

ESPN and Words + Pictures have unveiled their new six-part documentary series “Saban,” which chronicles the life and storied career of former University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban.
According to an official logline, “the series will tell the story of Nick Saban’s extraordinary career, highlighted by his 17 seasons at Alabama, where he led the team to six national titles and reestablished the Crimson Tide as college football’s preeminent program.”
“With my years of coaching behind me, Ms. Terry and I did a lot of thinking and realized we were ready to tell our story,” Nick Saban said. “The Words + Pictures team encouraged me to really look back not only on my time at Alabama, but every step of the way – and not only think about what happened but consider the process that made it happen. I’ve interacted with a lot of players and coaches along the way and I’m happy to see that so many of them have contributed to this documentary series. There’s a lot to tell and I’m excited to share it all.”
Russell Dinallo is directing while Connor Schell, Libby Geist, Aaron Cohen, Alexa Conway and Tom Rinaldi will produce under Words + Pictures. Gabe Honig is showrunner and co-executive producer.
“There will never be another Nick Saban,” said Schell, CEO of Words + Pictures. “He is a football genius, a singular leader and a true icon who has done more than anyone to shape modern college football and the culture that surrounds it.”
Details such as the premiere date and episode rollout will be revealed later.
