The redesigned user interface must be published simultaneously for iOS, iPados and MacOS. The Mac received an important facelift in 2020 with MacOS 11 Big on, although this was overshadowed at the time by the much more important passage of Intel fleas with Apple silicon. The current design of iOS and iPados has its roots in iOS 7 in 2013, but with more than a decade of progressive evolution at the top.
An operating system by any other name
The new design will apparently come a new denomination scheme, going from current version numbers to new numbers depending on the year. So, we would not see iOS 19, MacOS 16, Watchos 12 or Visionos 3 – Instead, we will get iOS 26, MacOS 26, Watchos 26 and Visionos 26.
The new figures could be a little confusing at the beginning, in particular for the overlapping period where Apple actively takes (say) MacOS 14, MacOS 15 and MacOS 26. But in the long term, consistency should facilitate the reference almost what your software is and will also facilitate you whether your device performs current software without remembering the number for each of your individual devices.
