Enough Freddie Freeman’s word

Afternoon, friends.

Braves are back in action this evening at DC

And the Spencer Strider tray to try.

Tonight’s match

No Whammies this time! Or hammies, by the way.

📺 How to look: First throw at 6.45 p.m. on Fanduel Sports.

The pitch match: Still no official announcement. But Strider will face the Mitchell Parker of the Nationals (3-3, 4.32).

🤔 Question of anecdotes: Strider started a match this year, defeating the Blue Jays after abandoning only two points. But who did he beat strider in his last victory in the big league?

Do we really do that?

I love Freddie Freeman. His departure? Tearing.

But Brian Kenny needs to continue, guy.

Kenny, of course, is a former ESPN guy and a current studio host on MLB Network. He recently spent a lot of antenna time, in the year of our Lord 2025, connecting Freeman leaving Atlanta for the

“They pay for that now,” he said. “I think they will continue to pay this loss.”

Of course, this is terribly dramatic, about 3 and a half years late … and super disdainful of the first basic player of the Braves current Matt Olson.

Baseball connoisseurs on the Internet did not.

📱 Clean Justin Toscano of the AJC, for example: “Classic case of people overlooking a great player (because) of whom he followed.

“Matt has all the heads of a beloved brave. He is one of the best 1B of MLB. He is from here. He is a leader. He cares. He is the elite on both sides.”

📱 and Brad Rowland, a prolific local podcast host: “Since the beginning of 2022, when he joined the brave, Matt Olson has been n ° 2 of 39 first qualified basic players at FWAR.

“The two best basic players of Major League Baseball.

I think he meant that “the brave fans” undervalue Olson. You get the point, however.

Freeman is a temple of first -round fame. Matt Olson is not. He will not hit 0.300 either, and no one pretends to the contrary.

But here is the thing: the brave did not choose Olson rather than Freeman. Whatever you thought, what happened behind the scenes, Freeman has not signed again.

Atlanta therefore exchanged for her replacement. And a very good one to that.

It’s time to let him go.

Do you have other Freeman-Olson thoughts? Send them in my way.

Recruits of the year?

Listen. It’s still May. But the people of MLB.com have just published their first recruit survey of the year, and you will be happy to know that a pair of braves is at the top of the list of contenders in the National League.

  • AJ Smith-Shawver (Yes, he still qualifies) has obtained early recognition by so far displaying an MPM of 2.33.
  • Drake BaldwinOn whom we have written a lot, also had a lot of votes.

The brave, of course, have a fairly strong curriculum vitae of exceptional recruits. Michael Harris II (2022), Ronald Acuña Jr. (2018) and Craig Kibrel (2011) have all won the prize in the last decade.

Step Shadenfreude

The food superstar, Juan Soto, followed his glow on weekends against the Yankees by joining the club “Think I It Homer but no, now it’s just one” club.

Then he said this: “I jostle myself hard enough. If you see it today, you could say it.”

Manager Carlos Mendoza plans to chat with him.

😏 Bonus result: The 3-1 defeat of the dishes against the Red Sox also abandoned them from first place in the East National League. The phillies lead half a game, with Los Bravos Five Back.

Response from anecdotes

Nationals.

Strider did not obtain a decision in one or the other of the two departures he made before elbow surgery in 2024. He also underwent defeats during his eliminatory series in 2023 against the phillies (despite high performances).

His last victory? September 30, 2023 against Washington – Son 20th of the season.

Thank you for reading the brave report. Tell a friend – and perhaps give the AJC sports daily newsletter A blow too.

Until the next time.
