The European UEFA under 21 championship has reached the semi-final stadium and the reigning champions, England U21, will face the Netherlands U21 on Wednesday. The Tehelné pole in Bratislava, which also hosts the final this weekend, will be the place of the first meeting of the last four between these European powers.
Having won the championship for the third time in 2023, the young Lions are now a game to reach the centerpiece for the second edition.
It was not the best race, but the holders managed to arrive here after ousting Spain U21 in the last eight Saturday.
James Mcatee and Harvey Elliott struck within the first 15 minutes of the shock to give England an advantage of two goals, but Javier Guerra pulled one for Red fury in the 39th minute.
Lee Carsley’s team managed to keep their advance in the second half and even added a third in time of time when Elliott Andersen marked a penalty in the 93rd minute before Rafa Marin saw Red for Spain.
After two games without a victory, England has once again become a track and renovated its identification titles. But now, they are faced with another talented side in the Netherlands, who have been looking to reach their first European finals under 21 since the trophy won in 2007.
The young Orange beat Portugal 1-0 in the quarter-final, Ernest Poku scoring the only goal of the match in the 84th minute. It was also his second goal of the tournament, after hitting an equalizer of downtime against Finland in their tournament opening match.
