Emmys producers look at the escape, tease tribute to the golden girls

The EMMYS 2025 will take place this Sunday in the midst of a dark reality of armed violence which struck throughout the country, but the producers of the program hope to infuse the 77th ceremony with escape in the middle of the tragedy.

“We are always trying to be aware of what’s going on in the world, but we also want to give people three hours of escape,” said EP Jesse Collins on Thursday morning. “Come on … Celebrate our favorite shows and the shows, people who have [been] Nominated who worked so hard to get these appointments, we want to give them their flowers. »»

“We want to celebrate the past … We want to celebrate what television gives us,” continued Collins, pointing tributes to the beloved series celebrating striking birthdays this year, including “Golden Girls”, “Survivor”, “Gilmore Girls”, “Gray’s Anatomy” and “Law and Order”.

“It was obviously a difficult week, but … We are delighted with the broadcast, it was an excellent year for television,” said the president of the TV Academy, Cris Abrego, in Thewrap, noting that nominated series are filled with “real authentic stories”.

If there is someone who can succeed in making the right tone, producers and television chiefs are convinced that it is Nate Bargatze, who is organizing her first big prize program this Sunday. “I think he has the power to bring everyone together when we need it,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Maury McIntyre, describing Bargatze as “the perfect host, especially in a time like this.”

Collins added that the Bargatze stand-up illustrates the tone it will bring Sunday evening, with EP Jeannae Rouzan-Clay teasing that it “will give a really fun, light and regular tone for the evening.

“We … take his lead in terms of tone that he wants to fix for the evening,” said Rouzan-Clay, adding that he usually has “a little something for everyone”. “His comedy resonates with everyone – that’s why we love it … He feels like this guy you can approach and say hello.”

Emmys

After the announcement of Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham as presenters earlier this week, I sparked a chatter of a “Gilmore Girls” meeting, the producers confirmed that the Emmys would mark the 25th anniversary of the show with a set revealed by the two main ladies. It will not be the only set revealed throughout the night, with the Emmys recreating the emblematic kitchen set “Golden Girls”, which will be honored by Reba Mcéntire, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman while singing the theme of the show.

Likewise, the Emmys will mark the 50th Survivor season with a special moment for the host Jeff Probst, while the 35th anniversary of “Law & Order” will be celebrated by Mariska Hargitay, Tony Goldwyn and Christopher Meloni as well as other people from all over the franchise, and “Gray Williams” is marked by Eric Dane and Jesse Williams.

While the streaming series continue to dominate the nominations to the Emmy (with the exception of “Abbott Elementary” of ABC and a main actress of head sign for Kathy Bates for “Matlock” of CBS), these anniversary tributes are a means for the EPs to conduct a light on the broadcasting series, with Abrego Applauding Collins and Rouzan-Clay to celebrate the two and present.

“” Law & Order “,” Grey’s Anatomy “- all are celebrated and they are main broadcasting programs,” said McIntyre, noting the team’s hopes to celebrate their “broadcast partners”.

As usual, the show will include its annual segment in Memoriam, which will have a performance by Lainey Wilson and Vince Gill of “Go Rest High on this mountain”. And there are many celebrities who will join the party, including the new presenters announced Brad Garrett, Young Mazino, S. Epatha Merkerson, Hunter Schafer, Ray Romano and Ice T.

While the television academy is preparing to negotiate the next broadcasting agreement for EMMYS, which currently expires in 2026, Abrego has refrained from discussing details of any future negotiations, but said that the team was “convinced that the Emmys will find the presence of those”. “We are delighted for the next two years,” said McIntyre.

The EMMYS broadcast on Sunday September 14, 2025 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 H HE on CBS and broadcast live on Paramount + Premium.
