Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remastered has a secret cameo by Todd Howard

You may not recognize him at the beginning, but it is definitely him (YouTube)

The director and producer of Boissda Games, Todd Howard, has a cameo hidden in the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, but only some players will be able to meet him.

Many would describe the Elder 4 scrolls: remastered oblivion as more than one remake than a remaster, thanks to its improved graphics and many modifications to the combat and user interface.

Bethesda insists, however, that it is not a remake, because the objective was to recreate “ the original game […] As you remember having played it, but seen through today’s technology.

As such, many of the original aspects of oblivion, such as strange facial animations and various bugs, have remained intact. Recently, it was discovered that this also includes the secret cameo of the executive producer Todd Howard.

Fans of pure and hard scrolls are undoubtedly already familiar with Howard’s cameo and have probably checked to see if it has been kept for remaster, as Terakjk demonstrated on YouTube.

If you are interested in living the cameo from the first hand, the good news is that it is not particularly difficult to find. The bad news is that this is only possible on the PC version.

How to find Todd Howard in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remastered

Todd Howard’s camée in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is located in a hidden room which is generally only accessible to developers, because it is used for testing and debugging purposes.

The only way to access the room yourself is to use console commands on the PC, which are debugging tools that many use to activate cheaters. Some of the tips of the original game always work for Oblivion Remastered, including God’s mode and theft.

By pressing the ‘~’ button, you can open a menu to enter cheaters. Type the “COC Toddtest” command, and you will be instantly teleported in the test room where Howard, or rather his character, is.

Howard does not appear as himself in Oblivion, but rather as a character called Alban Corinis, who does not appear in the full game. If you speak to him, he will say a line which is clearly expressed by one of the real vocal actors of the game, but afterwards, you offer a selection of dialogue options.

Click on one of them and you will hear a line expressed by Howard. Choose the surprise, for example, and he will say “What?” I didn’t know that. How could it be? In the least surprised tone imaginable.

Obviously, Howard only lent his vocal chops for having tested the disposition mechanic, where the opinions and feelings of the non-playable characters towards you are reflected by choices at stake, therefore expecting a real performance of his cameo is perhaps too much.

The layout of his character changes according to the choices of dialogue that you choose, so that you can make sure that Howard professes his love for you or you call Ab ******, according to you the most fun.

There are also more characters with whom to interact in the room and there is another test room that you can explore with the “ coc testinghall ” command, but there is unfortunately no way to access one of them on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.
