Eight sleep adds costly coverage and speakers to its Pod 5 sleep system

Eight Sleep launches Pod 5, the fifth generation of its expensive smart sleep system. It contains two main upgrades: coverage and speakers with controlled temperature that can play “soothing sound landscapes”.
The POD 5 is based on the eight existing Sleep technologies, shipping with the same mattress cover at temperature and and an adjustable base at the height which, according to eight people, helps reduce snoring. The new cover completes the cover by synchronizing, offering the same cooling and foodstuffing range from 55 to 110 Fahrenheit, but now all around you. Like existing coverage, you can define different temperatures on each side of the bed to avoid midnight quarrels.
The other big addition is a set of surround sound speakers integrated into the update base. Eight sleep worked with the neuroscientist and podcaster Andrew Huberman on a set of guided meditations of deep non -sleeping rest (NSDR) “to obtain deep relaxation and repairer states”. There is also a selection of white noise and other soothing sounds, which can be set to turn off once you fall asleep, or continue to play all night if you prefer.
Eight sleep also improves the monitoring of the health of the pod with Health Check, a new report in the Eight Sleep application. He monitors the heart rate of users and breathing during sleep, and “algorithms fueled by AI” report any problem in the morning.
My colleague Victoria Song tested eight Sleep 4 ultra pod last year and apparently had the best sleep of her life. It would be great, if it did not come at such a high price: the POD 5 begins at $ 2,849 for a full -size basic model which only includes the coverage of mattresses and a center to supply it. The price increases to $ 4,099 to add the coverage and $ 6,099 for the base and adjustable speakers, and there is also a compulsory subscription, which starts at $ 199 per year.
