Ed Sheeran will apparently jump Houston during his North American tour in 2026. He is not the first artist to do that.
The singer Ed Sheeran will visit North America in the summer and fall next, playing in places in the United States and Canada in 22 cities – one, for the moment, will not be Houston.
The English musician recently announced the route of his North American tour in 2026 which includes stadiums in big cities like Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas. The leap of Sheeran on Houston follows a trend of other major artists who pass on the third largest city in the country, leaving many Houstonians to travel for hours to see their favorite artists.

Sheeran will start his tour in a suburb of Phoenix on June 13 before going to cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Seattle. He will play at the AT&T stadium in Arlington on October 24, 2026.
The other cities in the south of its tour are Nashville, tenn.; Atlanta; and Charlotte, nc
The Chronicle contacted Sheeran’s booking agent to comment.
Over the years, groups have jumped the Houston market while performing in Austin or Dallas. This list includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Kraftwerk, Roxy Music, Jack White and The Machine.
Concert bookers have told Houston Chronicle that Austin has the strongest music market in Texas because of its university city atmosphere, the number of sites available and the number of radio stations that give more exhibition to independent and adult-albums artists than those of Houston. They said Houston crowds also have the reputation of talking during the shows and often waiting to buy tickets until the night of the show.
Sheeran’s tour in 2026 comes after the artist released his latest album, “Play”, on September 12. Although the artist plans to jump Houston next year, in 2023 during the Sheeran mathematics tour, he stopped in the city to perform at the NRG stadium.
