Eagles acquire former Pro Bowl CB Jaire Alexander from Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens traded former Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander to the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday after he was buried on the depth chart for weeks.

The Ravens sent Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Alexander, 28, has played in just two of Baltimore’s eight games this season, participating in a total of 61 snaps with no interceptions or passes defended. He was knocked out five times, including in Thursday night’s 28-6 win at Miami.

The Ravens signed Alexander to a one-year, $4 million contract on June 18, reuniting him with former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson and adding a fifth former first-round pick to Baltimore’s secondary. But Alexander missed part of training camp with a knee injury, then struggled during the Ravens’ fourth-quarter collapse in their season-opening 41-40 loss at Buffalo.

Alexander should get the opportunity to play longer with the Eagles. Philadelphia’s secondary has strong players led by Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, but hasn’t found a solution for the outside corner spot opposite Mitchell.

The Eagles acquired Michael Carter II earlier in the week. Carter has played primarily nickel during his career, raising the prospect of DeJean moving full-time if Carter lands a starting job. DeJean has played outside in base packages this season. Either Adoree’ Jackson or Kelee Ringo played outside in sub-packages.

There is some familiarity with Alexander inside the Eagles building, as passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Christian Parker was with him in Green Bay in 2019-20 when Parker was defensive quality control coach.

Before joining the Ravens, Alexander was released by the Packers on June 9 after two straight injury-filled seasons. An All-Pro in 2020 and 2022, he only played in 34 games out of a possible 68 for Green Bay from 2021-2024.

The No. 18 pick in the 2018 draft, Alexander totaled 292 tackles, 12 interceptions and 70 passes defensed.
