EA shuts down BioWare game and two other games next month

EA, officially known as Electronic Arts, is set to shut down three games next month, including a BioWare game, rendering them partially or completely unplayable. For those who don’t know the latter, it’s the studio best known for Dragon Age And Mass effect series, as well as the team beingbehind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Meanwhile, the other two EA games come from Maxis and EA Tiburon. In the case of the three EA games, each has already been delisted, but the servers have been maintained. But this is changing.
The shutdowns are expected to begin on January 12, with the BioWare game actually. More specifically, on January 12, EA is preparing to shut down the servers of AnthemBioWare’s maligned 2019 multiplayer action RPG. Development of Anthem ceased in 2021, while its delisting returned on August 15 of this year.
Two more EA games shut down
One of the other EA games that will be shutting down next month is The Sims Mobilewhich closes its doors two weeks later, on January 24. Released a year earlier than Anthem, The Sims Mobile was made by developer Maxis as a mobile adaptation of The Sims 4. He was deregistered on October 21, 2025.
The third and final EA game to shut down next month will be on January 30, and it’s the least significant of the three. Specifically, on January 30, EA closes its doors NBA Live 19which was released in 2018 by EA Tiburon, and remains the final installment in the series after EA put it on ice following its release. He was also delisted at the end of October, as The Sims Mobile.
Why are these EA games stopping?
EA has never disclosed the reason for these delistings and closures. All three require servers, which costs money and human resources. In the meantime, NBA Live 19 also has licensing agreements that expire. To that end, all three games probably cost EA more money than they made from the titles. And in the case of NBA Live 19licenses will not be extended if a game loses money. These are only speculations and not official explanations from EA, which never gives information on why it discontinues its games.
These three judgments in January 2026 follow two different judgments this month. One of these games was a AAA version of the PS4 and Xbox One generations. The other was an even older game from 12 years ago and closed without notice.
