Dolphins Cornerback Artie Burns torn ACL, says source

Miami Gardens, Florida – Dolphins Cornerback Artie Burns should miss all 2025 season after tearing his ACL on the first day of team training, a source told Adam Schefter in ESPN.

An MRI confirmed what the medical staff of the Dolphins feared Thursday, after Burns suffered the injury shortly after the start of Wednesday training. Burns went to the ground after taking himself with a teammate during position exercises and slammed his helmet by frustration.

He was later seen by leaving the field on crutches.

Burns has signed a one -year contract with dolphins this off -season after spending the last three seasons with Seattle Seahawks. He has not been a full -time starter since 2017, but has had the opportunity to compete for a starting job in Miami – where an already thin position is now even more widespread from a problem.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said on Wednesday that the team was confident in his current corner group, he will always try to improve.

“If you have young people in a position that develops and develop it and you trust it, you will trust them before people who have not seen it,” he said. “So, we are confident in the group. That being said, not closing the door for anything. There are several players we are talking about every day, but we are also very excited with some guys who have a lot to prove and know that and are delighted with the opportunity.”

One day after the Burns injury, the Dolphins signed the veteran Cornell Cornell Armstrong horn – a player whom they initially written in the sixth round of the 2018 draft. Armstrong was not part of a list of the NFL last season and spent the 2023 season on the Raiders training team of Las Vegas.
