Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta refused to talk about Ebelechi Eze’s imminent arrival before the weekend match against Leeds.
The Gunners immersed themselves at the last moment for Pip Rivaux Tottenham at the signing, Eze sitting down the shock of the Crystal Palace Europa League Thursday evening.
But during his pre-match press conference, he had little to say about the signature and rather pivoted the physical form of Kai Havertz.
He said: “Nothing to comment. I can never talk about a player who is not yet part of our group.”
“We don’t really know its extent [Havertz injury]. We need a little more time and more tests and after that, we will have more clarity.
“I prefer not to talk about details but it is not in good shape. We have to explore this situation a little more and decide what we are going to do.
“I don’t know [how long he will be out for]. I would love to have available it for tomorrow.
Gyoker update
Arteta was also asked about the new striker Viktor Gyokerres, who only lasted 60 minutes in the victory against Manchester United.
He added: “It depended on how the game developed and each game brings different challenges and opportunities.
“I think the game was very physically demanding, it became really open for various reasons and at that time, we decided that it had done enough and we had Kai [Havertz] on the bench to come and change the game. “
“He is very enthusiastic. He trained very well this week. He had another week to his credit and he is in a very good place. ”
