Disney Breaks MCU’s 14-Year Winning Formula With Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Plan

As details on Avengers: ApocalypseFollowing the trailer’s release, Disney ends the MCU’s 14-year winning streak – an indication of how much things have changed for the franchise. It’s been 6 years since the Infinity Saga ended with the record Avengers: Endgame. Since then, Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios have been in rebuilding mode, setting up its next major crossover in the Multiverse saga.

Unlike the Infinity Saga, the Multiverse Saga unfolds a little faster than its predecessor. With a mix of film and television stories building towards another climax, the MCU has a lot more to juggle in terms of narrative throughlines. Beyond that, the foundations of the Multiverse Saga are also more complicated, not to mention more fragile.

Despite all this, the hype around Avengers: Apocalypse exists, and it will only get more intense as Disney begins marketing the film. That said, the way House of Mouse is releasing its first trailer is a departure from the MCU’s previous approach.

As previously confirmed, the first Avengers: Apocalypse trailer will debut ahead Avatar: Fire and Ash when it hits theaters on December 19. This marks the start of any type of MCU project footage of Joe and Anthony Russos returning since they wrapped up the Infinity Saga. Avengers: Apocalypse was supposed to be released in May 2025, then it was pushed back to May 2026, and finally December of the same year. Assuming it sticks to that, Disney begins marketing the film a year before its theatrical release.

Beyond that, however, the House of Mouse is also changing the trailer deployment approach it’s been using since Avengers film since 2012 The Avengers – he gets attached Avengers: Apocalypsea first glimpse of the premiere of a major blockbuster. Previously, Disney had simply introduced audiences to the initial trailers for the four MCU crossover films – either through a simple guest stint with the Russos on GMA for Avengers: Infinity War or simply share it online, like with Avengers: Endgame. People didn’t have to watch another movie to see the trailers for the first time.

A lot has happened to the MCU since the end of the Infinity Saga. It’s no secret that the Multiverse saga hasn’t gone exactly as Marvel Studios had hoped, as it’s been mired by scandals, divisive projects, and personnel changes. This is potentially one of the reasons why they are running promotions for Avengers: Apocalypse well before its actual release. However, by attaching its first trailer to Avatar: Fire and Ash This may be a plan to get more people to go to the cinema to see the new James Cameron film.

For what it’s worth, Avatar: The Way of Water grossed $684.1 million in the United States and Canada, with a worldwide total of $2.320 billion. An impressive harvest, especially in the post-pandemic era. That said, there should be no problem if Disney wants to get more people to watch its sequel by adding an extra incentive such as the Avengers: Apocalypse trailer. Despite the MCU’s Multiverse Saga’s problems, there’s no doubt that it still has major appeal, as evidenced by its unique but intriguing production announcement for the upcoming film.
