It is not a secret for anyone that Newcastle seeks to sign several strikers before the closure of the summer transfer window in a few weeks. They have been linked to Nicolas Jackson, Yoane Wissa and many others recently, and it seems that a new name is now under study in St James’ Park.
The idea is for Newcastle to sign two attackers (a starter, a rotation option) before opening the door to Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak, who clearly indicated that he did not intend to stay with the team of Eddie Howe. And taking into account the well -documented PSR concerns of the club, the club’s new number could be a low -cost signature.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin would suit the bill in this regard, and although it was linked to Newcastle, they seem to consider a decision for a different free agent.
Newcastle Consider the shock for Michail Antonio
According to Dave Ockop (via FootballFancast), Newcastle has recorded its interest in sign Michail Antonio. The 35 -year -old man, who missed the vast majority of last season after being involved in a serious road accident, was confirmed to leave West Ham earlier this week, which means that he can be taken as a free agent.
Antonio completely recovered from the injuries suffered during the road accident, so he is ready and capable of having an immediate impact for his new club. And given that Howe wants players with Premier League experience to be added to his team, the Jamaican international could be an ideal candidate.
Antonio scored 67 Premier League goals, so he could be a precious asset if Newcastle wants to put funds elsewhere rather than in a new rescue striker. But for the moment, it remains to be seen where a move is made for the former West Ham Man.
