Diddy denied a new trial or a acquittal a few days before the conviction

Sean “Diddy” Combs “for a new trial or a acquittal in his federal affair was refused, just before his conviction on Friday.

Judge Arun Subramanian said on Tuesday evening in a file that the court was not convinced by the arguments put forward for one or the other potential result in his case. Combs lawyer argued that his records of sexual acts with male escorts were technically amateur pornography, which, they said, was protected by the first amendment. They also said that he deserved a new trial because his counts of Rico and sex traffic should not have been gathered with his head of law, who, according to them, prejudiced to the jury against him for the latter accusations.

In his decision, Subramanian said that Combs had not carried his “heavy burden” to show damage to overflow in the jury, because he was found not guilty of the most serious Rico and sex trafficking. “The government has proven its case several times,” wrote Subramanian. “It could be enough to have the Combs challenge. […] If the prejudices had indeed been so large, one would expect a jury to condemn the most relevant charges before it could spread and infect others. A new trial is not justified. »»

Monday evening, the prosecutors filed a 164 -page memorandum which recommended no less than 11 years’ imprisonment, claiming that it is “unrepentant” and that “the punishment for his crimes of conviction must take into account the way in which he committed them”. The government previously suggested that he serves a four to five years old.

Last week, Combs lawyers argued that it should not serve more than 14 months in prison, saying that it had been punished enough. In addition to the file, the former girlfriend of Combres, Yung Miami and producer Dallas Austin, submitted letters of support, as well as the prisoners who had followed the “free game” course.

Combs was found guilty in July for two prostitution transport managers, but dodged more serious accusations of sexual traffic and racketeering. He risks up to 20 years in prison.
