Did Ryan Coogler tease a “sinners” trilogy?

Let’s talk about the genius behind Sinners.
On the surface, the successful film by Ryan Coogler speaks of a Vampire preacher. But it is a film full of history and tradition. One where the more you look, the more it is deep. And there is a bigger story that you may have missed.
The film follows Sammie Moore (Miles Caton), a fighting musician Remmick (Jack O’Connell), a villain of blood who builds a hive spirit album.
But if you listen carefully to the opening monologue, Annie (Wunmi Mosaku) speaks of a legend that exists in ancient Ireland, Choctaw Land and West Africa:
“There are legends of people born with the gift of making music so true that it can unravel the veil between life and death. This gift can heal their communities, but it also attracts evil.“”
This evil? Remmick. And this gift? Sammie’s song, which literally evokes people from everywhere to dance to the Joint Juke.
Fans have hypothesized that Remimick could also be one of these manufacturers of mythical music, but also hypnotic as his Irish song and his template, he does not pierce the veil like the Sammie melody.
However, the gold coins, the accent and the fact that Remmick knows exactly what he is looking for suggests that Remimick comes from a culture that knows legend. He may not only be there to eat, but rather by trying to find a way to return to his people, to his past.
And Sammie’s voice could be his ticket.
And it goes even further. At the start of the film, Remmick was driven by a bunch of choctaw men. So, Remmick targeted their version of Sammie, a fire goalkeeper with this same dangerous gift?
All this raises the real question: could Ryan Coogler install something much bigger?
A prequel to the origin of Remimick? A sequel to these Choctaw vampire hunters? Basically, an entire trilogy hiding at sight. Coogler told Ebony that he wrote it as a “finished thing”.
But let’s be real. Doors like this do not always close.
Sinners is now in theaters.
