“Did not work this year”: Pat cummins brutally honest on the Srh season of ‘What Ifs’

Sunrisers Hyderabad ended his season with a 110 -point victory on Kolkata Knight Riders, and the skipper Pat Cummins said that the team had the caliber to produce better effort, but that simply did not work, attributing failure to incapacity to graft on slower grounds. Known for their ultra -aggressive approach, SRH started the season with a blow, displaying 286 against the Royals of Rajasthan during their opening match, and capped it with the third total of the highest season – 278 for 3. However, the inconsistencies in the intermediate phase saw them falling from the fight against the playoffs.

“Incredible finish. Many things have clicked in the last games. Incredible beat. We have the caliber, but we could not play worse in certain parts. Ask the team to make the final most of the time. It simply did not work this year,” said Cummins during the post-match presentation.

“We are going to get counters like this where we can maximize, but others where we have to graft at 170, which we did not do well. I think some guys have had opportunities. Really satisfied with the team despite certain injuries and the outgoing players. I feel like we used 20 players.” But the reigning champions KKR ended their campaign on a disappointing note, finishing eighth with 12 points of 14 games.

The skipper Ajinkya Rahane missed the opportunities and admitted that a bad execution with the ball cost them a lot when they were overthrown for 168 in the pursuit of 279.

“I thought they had beaten very well. Yes, we made some mistakes during the bowling alley. The way they beat, they capitalized on all the cowardly balls and also struck all the right balls. The credit goes to SRH strikers, their intention was really great,” said Rahane.

“We have discussed the slower bowling balls, the wider bowling alley, also wider bowling, but sometimes if the quisons do not perform the plan very well, then the strikers like Klaasen and all the srh strikers … They beat very well.

“We were short of our execution part, but we also made a lot of errors throughout the sleeves as a bowling unit.” By thinking about the global season, Rahane said: “Throughout the season, we had our moments, we had our chances, 2-3 tight games that we thought we did not play well as a team, as a unit.

“Apart from that, we have done our best, we gave our best. A format like this, you have to be on each time. This format is really difficult, this IPL is really difficult. As a team, we have had these chances, we would probably have been number one or two in the table.

“But, no regrets, a lot to learn from this season. All the players have done their best, did us their best. We will come back very strong next year,” he said.
