A few days after the death of Diane Keaton at age 79, her family now reveals the cause.
In a statement to PeopleThe Oscar winner’s family says she died of pneumonia.

“The Keaton family is so grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received over the past few days from their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement read.
The Oscar winner’s death was also first reported by Peoplealthough details were scarce at the time; The family only revealed that she died in California.

In addition to today’s statement, Keaton’s family also offered his fans and friends a way to pay their respects.
“She loved her animals and she strongly supported the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute.”
Keaton is survived by his two children.
