Detroit Lions signs Oly Trystan Colon, retired from Frank Ragnet

According to a Mike Garafolo report from the NFL Network, the Detroit Lions have signed the veteran Trystan Colon’s offensive line following the retirement of Frank Ragnet. The team has not yet officially announced one or other of the moves, but with the Lions currently in their second week of organized team activities (OTA), it is possible that we can see the two in the transaction report on Wednesday.

Colon is not recovered from Missouri in 2020 and joined the Ravens. During his first three seasons in the NFL, he played 20 games for Baltimore, starting three games in the center and one at the right guard. In 2023, Colon joined the New York jets but was released during the cuts and was claimed by the Cardinals of Arizona. In the past two seasons in the desert, Colon has played 31 games, starting four games on the left and seven others at the right guard. In 2024, Colon played 386 snaps for cardinals, allowing 12 pressures but no bags.

While Colon has experience in the five offensive line spots, the Lions will probably allow him to compete along the interior, where he has a majority of his experience, and they need depth.

In the center, the Lions should have a starting competition between Graham Glasgow and the Tate Ratledge recruit. However, Colon will probably be in competition for more depth with the return backup center Michael Niese and the UDFA Kingsley Eguakun in the second year.

In Guard, a combination of Glasgow, Ratledge and Christian in mahogany is the first runners for the departure roles, but they will face competition in the camp. In addition to the colonist, the recruit of the Lions was also the recruit Miles Frazier, the veterans back Kayode Awosika and Neatne Muti, as well as the recruit of the Udfa Mason Miller.
