DEADPOOL Director and Keanu Reeves Team Up for Insane Movie About Smugglers, Sharks, and Time Loops

Have you ever heard of a movie that seems so crazy you just have to watch it? This happened to me with the announcement of a new project from Tim Miller and Keanu Reeves. Miller rose to prominence as the director of the 2016 film dead Poolwhich propelled the character to mainstream popularity, leading to two successful sequels:Deadpool 2 and the immensely popular Deadpool and Wolverine. Keanu, meanwhile, has continued to build his reputation as an action star in his own right over the past few years thanks to the John Wick franchise.

Now, the two creatives are coming together for a special project. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Warner Bros. is in final negotiations to purchase a package for Thrilla sci-fi film about a smuggler directed by Miller and starring Keanu Reeves. The film is produced by Aaron Ryder (producer of The Prestige, The Founder And Stupid money) and Matthew Vaughn (director of Kick ass, X-Men: First Class And King). The project was written by Ian Shorr, who wrote the 2021 sci-fi film. Infinitywith Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg.

According to THR, the project would be similar to Blake Lively’s 2016 shark film. The shallowsand Tom Cruise’s 2014 time-loop sci-fi film Edge of tomorrow. “Why the hell is Shiver being compared to a shark movie and a time loop alien invasion story”, you ask? That’s because the movie is about a smuggler, trapped in a time loop, as he tries to survive a freaking shark attack in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.

THR said the story “centers on a ne’er-do-well smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double betrayal while working in the Caribbean Sea, which finds him surrounded by corpses, hostile mercenaries, and thirsty sharks. He then finds himself in a deadly time loop and struggles to break the cycle.”

Since Warner Bros. is still in negotiations to purchase the package, the release date for this project could be quite far away. However, if the deal goes through, let’s all keep our fingers crossed that Thrill to get out as soon as possible. I don’t know about you, but I can’t – and I say this without a hint of sarcasm – wait to see Reeves fight sharks in a time loop.

Given its description, the project will likely have a considerable budget. However, it seems so incredible that its premise alone has the potential to attract mainstream audiences. Add to that Keanu Reeves, whose mass appeal was arguably largely responsible for the success of the John Wick movies, and Thrill has a lot of potential to find an audience, even in today’s fluctuating entertainment market.

What are you thinking about Thrill? Does this sound like a movie you would like to watch? Why is your answer yes? Let me know in the comments.
