More than a million electricity banks recalled after some consumers report fires

New York – More than 1.15 million electricity banks are subject to the United States after certain fires and explosions have been reported by consumers.
According to a US Thursday opinion Consumer Product Safety Commission, the electronics manufacturer Anker Innovations recalls certain “PowerCore 10000” power banks because the lithium-ion battery can overheat.
An overheating battery can lead to a “fusion of plastic components, smoke and fire risks”, wrote Anker in an accompaniment ad. The company added that it leads this recall “by abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our customers”.
According to the CPSC, Anker, based in China, has received 19 fire and explosions involving these now recognized portable chargers. This includes two minor injuries on burns and 11 material damage reports amounting to more than $ 60,700.
PowerCore 10000 -recalled power banks have an A1263 model number. They were sold online on the Anker website – as well as Amazon, Ebay and Newegg – between June 2016 and December 2022 for around $ 27 in the United States, according to the recall notice.
Consumers in possession, these now recognized chargers are invited to stop using them immediately – and to contact Anker for a free replacement.
Consumers with impacted can visit the Anker website for more information and register for the recall. To receive a replacement, consumers will have to submit a photo of their recalled food bank which shows its model number, its serial number, their name, their date and the word “recalled” written on the product.
The CPSC and the ANKER note that these power banks should not be launched directly in waste or general recycling streams. Due to the risk of fire, the recalled lithium -ion batteries must be eliminated differently from the other batteries – so it is important to check the local advice.
