DC Comics has been on a roll lately, with its Absolute line which is very successful. The publisher’s DC Universe titles also perform well, with Matt Fraction’s Batman repeatedly return to print and DC KO in the same way, they fly off the shelves.
This was undoubtedly helped by what turned out to be a great year for DC Studios and the DCU. Superman was a hit when it hit theaters this summer, and despite some grumbling from fans, Peacemaker Season 2 also received largely positive reviews.
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has previously spoken about the importance of comics when it comes to creativity. Superman. “There are all sorts of things in the other films that impressed me,” he explained. “Seeing the movie Donner when I was a kid was really cool for me, and I loved it. I got a lot out of it. Zack Snyder did a lot of amazing things with action, and I got a lot out of it, and I’d done it before.”
“I took a lot of different things, from different eras. But I really come back to the comics, because I’m a comic book fan first and foremost. I really took more inspiration from the comics than the film adaptations,” » Gunn added.
