Health establishments have become a favorite target for bad players, largely because of their ease for attackers. In June, the researchers discovered a violation of health care data that exposed personal information of approximately 8 million patients. All this information has been accessible to the public online without any password or authentication protocol.
The last organization of health care to be the victim of a violation is Davita, which has put nearly a million people in danger. Based in Denver, Colorado, Davita provides dialysis treatment to around 200,000 patients in the United States and 13 other countries.

What you need to know the attack on the Davita ransomware
The renal dialysis Davita says that nearly 916,000 people had personal and medical information exposed during a ransomware attack in April (via Compartech). The violation, which the company has disclosed in state deposits, the names compromised, the social security numbers, the dates of birth, the details of the health insurance, the medical files, the tax identity numbers, the addresses and even the images of checks made to the company.
Davita says that the incident has disrupted internal operations and mainly affected its laboratories. In its last opinion to the victims, the company said that the cyber attack began on March 24, 2025 and continued until April 12. She did not confirm if a ransom had been paid.
Ransomware Gang Interlock claimed responsibility on April 25, displaying screenshots of so -called stolen documents and saying that it has taken 1.5 to Davita data. The group lists the company on its public flight site, where it puts pressure on the victims by threatening to sell or release stolen files.
Davita offers free admissible free identity catering services victims of identity via Experian, with a registration deadline on November 28. The company did not confirm how the attackers had access to its network or the size of the ransom request.
Cyberguy contacted Davita to comment but did not receive an answer before the publication.

Who is behind the Davita breach
Interlock, which appeared for the first time in October 2024, claimed the responsibility of the attack on Davita and at least 23 other ransomware attacks, plus dozens of others that remain not verified. The health care objectives have included digestive specialists from Texas, Kettering Health and Naper Grove Vision Care, all of which reported data violations in 2025.

Davita’s incident is the second attack on American health care ransomware by a number of files this year, behind the violation of Frederick Health in January. According to Comarch, 53 Ransomware attacks were confirmed against American health care providers in only 2025, compromising more than 3.2 million patient files.
