David Allvin, Top Air Force General, to retire early

Air Force chief of staff David Allvin announced that he was retiring in November, just two years after a four-year term as the first general of the Air Force.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a staff chief of the Air Force and I am grateful for secretary Meink, Secretary Hegseth and the faith of President Trump in me to direct our service,” said Allvin in a statement published on Monday by Air Force. He gave no reason for his early departure.

“More than anything, I am proud to have been part of the aviator team who live our fundamental values of integrity, service and excellence every day while we are preparing to defend this great nation,” said Allvin.

Allvin was appointed in 2023 by President Joe Biden to become the Chief of the Air Force Staff.

Allvin, according to his Air Force biography, is a control pilot with more than 4,600 hours in more than 30 planes, including 800 hours of flight and 100 hours of combat. He graduated in 1986 of the US Air Force Academy.
