Dave A. Chokshi joins the KFF board of directors

San Francisco – KFF announced today that Dr. Dave Ashok Chokshi, an exercise doctor and Head of Health, joined the KFF board of directors.

Dr. Chokshi is a doctor at Bellevue Hospital as well as the Sternberg family leadership teacher at the City College in New York. From 2020 to 2022, it was 43RD Health Commissioner in New York, where he directed the city’s response to the Cavid-19 pandemic, including his historic campaign to vaccinate more than six million New Yorkers.

“Dr. Chokshi is a huge addition to KFF and our board of directors when we are faced with new and unprecedented challenges in terms of health and public health policy,” said Dr. Drew Altman, President and Chief Executive Officer of KFF.

“There could not be a more vital moment for KFF’s work,” said Dr. Chokshi. “I have long admired KFF concentration on how politics affects people and its unshakable truth of truth through data, research and journalism. I am honored to join the board of directors and delighted to contribute to this essential mission. ”

Dr. Chokshi is also president of the Common Health Coalition, a non -partisan and non -profit organization dedicated to strengthening the partnership between health care and public health. He is also co -president of the health and political economy project.

The previous experience of Dr. Chokshi includes the appointment as head of chief health of the inaugural population at NYC Health + Hospitals (H + H), the largest public health system in the country, where it was also CEO of the organization of responsible H + H. Dr. Chokshi practiced internal primary care medicine at Bellevue Hospital since 2014, and its current clinical practice has focused on people without people shelter.

In addition to KFF, he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Community Solutions, Rock Health and Yuvo Health.

KFF’s board of directors is chaired by former American senator Olympia Snow and its 13 members have deep history in the public service, the academic world, non -profit organizations, health care and the media.
