Date fixed for the renewal of Bernal

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has set a date to announce the renewal of Bernal.

The youngster had already agreed for a new contract a long time ago. The New Deal will see him stay in Catalonia until 2029, although it is nothing more than an activation of a clause that extends his agreement for three years.

The announcement will be made one day after Barcelona’s home match against Real Sociedad, which will be played in Montjuic.

Bernal would ideally like to appear against Sociedad before the club announces the New Deal, a day later.

The report, however, adds that Hansi Flick is not in a hurry to start Bernal even at a time when the club is under the shock of the absences of the keys of FERMIN LOPEZ and GAVI fields.

It seems that the Catalans plan to gradually put Bernal at speed, a formula which was applied to Gavi also after his return from a long layoff of injuries.

Bernal, however, hopes to avoid another injury like Gavi and will therefore have to play with caution, at least in the first months of his return.
